Sweet presents Project 365(4) Day 87

Pam brought me a couple of tins of pipe tobacco back from Barclay Rex in NY. Last time she went it was Peterson Special Reserve but that is no longer in stock so this time it is Peterson’s Sweet Killarney and Ancient Dublin.
Sweet Killarney with its blend of Virginia Burley, Maryland Black Cavendish blended with Virginia Flake all topped of with a Cream caramel flavour does promise to live up its name. Not only will it taste sweet, the smell of the smoke from Virginia and Cavendish will be particularly striking.
Ancient Dublin, on the other hand has Latakia, Turkish oriental and Virginia leaf in its blend. That will be a robust smoke akin to the Dunhill My MIxture 965 that I used to buy in the UK. Maybe not as appealing on the nose as Sweet Killarney but certainly a satisfying taste in the mouth.
I like the flavour of Latakia which I first encountered in Balkan Sobranie, then in Solomon’s Presbyterian Mixture and finally in My Mixture 965 and Dunhill Nightcap mixture. I now smoke St Bruno at 4.90 Euros for 50gms – much more affordable for a man on a pension!
